No Email Required: Anonymous File Sharing Guide

Most file sharing services want to know who you are. They ask for your email. They track your activity. They build a profile. But sometimes you just want to send a file — without leaving a digital trail.

What "Anonymous" Actually Means

True anonymity online is rare. Most "anonymous" services still log your IP address, use browser fingerprinting, or require JavaScript-based tracking. Here’s what fff files does differently:

• No email collection — you never enter an email address
• No account creation — no username, no password, no profile
• No IP logging — your IP is hashed with SHA-256 (truncated to 64 bits) for rate limiting only. Raw IPs are never stored.
• No cookies — we don’t set any cookies, ever
• No analytics or tracking scripts — zero third-party trackers

How We Handle Rate Limiting Without Storing IPs

To prevent abuse, we limit uploads to 30 per hour per IP. But instead of storing your IP address, we hash it with SHA-256 and truncate the result to 64 bits. This creates a unique-but-irreversible identifier. We can count uploads without knowing who you are.

The Trade-offs

Anonymity has consequences:

• No account recovery — lose your delete link, and you can’t delete the file early
• No download history — you can’t see who downloaded your file
• Files auto-delete — no permanent storage
