Email was not designed for file transfer. It was designed for text messages in 1971. Yet millions of people still attach files to emails every day — and then wonder why they bounce, why the recipient cannot open them, or why their inbox is full.
A single high-resolution photo can exceed these limits. A short video clip? Forget it. And these are sending limits — the recipient may have even lower receiving limits.
Once you email a file, it exists in your Sent folder and the recipient's Inbox — potentially for years. There is no way to revoke access. You cannot "un-send" an attachment after the fact. Every old email attachment is a potential data leak waiting to happen.
A 20MB attachment sent to 5 people consumes 120MB of storage (original + 5 copies + Sent folder). Multiply by hundreds of emails, and you have gigabytes of duplicated files clogging mail servers.
Emails with large attachments are more likely to be flagged as spam, bounced by the recipient server, or blocked entirely. Some corporate email systems reject attachments over 10MB outright.
fff files accepts files up to 250MB — ten times Gmail's limit. And unlike email, there is no recipient-side size restriction.
Files shared via link do not fill up anyone's inbox. They exist temporarily on the server and then disappear. No storage quota consumed. No email threads bloated with forwarded attachments.
Every fff files upload includes a delete token. If you change your mind, you can delete the file before it expires. Try doing that with an email attachment you already sent.
Instead of attaching the same 20MB file to 10 different emails (200MB of duplicated storage), share one link. All 10 recipients download the same file from the same source.
